I have been so busy!

Wednesday night, I rode three horses, which felt great!
Trying to leg up Raliegh for hunt season for Scott.
Legging up my own Margo to hunt (she has been off for a bit as I have been riding Big O so much)
And I rode Big O, who I am trying to build confidence with over fences, and he some how managed to jump himself out of both of his front shoes! Crap o la! So he is out until I can get his front shoes tacked back on. He will be wearing bell boots from now on.

Thursday night, I went over and worked with my dad on my horse trailer, which is looking AWESOME! I painted the roof. Can't wait until it is done and I can haul 2 horses at once!
Yay!

Tonight, I am out at the barn to do chores and am going to scrap botflys off my mare... fun!
I'm going to try and ride two horses everyday.

Also, trying to get a hunting habit together. I need a vest, a black hunt coat, brown leather gloves, and I'd like to get a leather sandwich case. Oh and a flask.

I'm excited to go Tuesday for a lesson with Amanda at Barb Joyces! My friend Tara has been taking lessons there and loves it! Cant wait!

Sunday, I'm delivering a kitten to Kara's and am going to drive Petey! Woohoo!

I can't find my camera anywhere since I packed for the last show, which got rained out :(

I want to take a picture of Jack to show how much weight he has gained and his leg looks so good! (Thanks Tara for the magic stuff!)

Anyway, I'm so happy to have horses! Wish I had more money though!

Good stuff going on, lots of riding, getting ready for a show this weekend, taking care of ponies, cleaning my apartment, got my queen sized bed back and it is so comfy, new field boots coming in the mail, new bit from Darcie for Margo, horse friends...
Fretting too though, about cats, about my phone which I ran over with a tractor, stolen tack, the weather, ex-boyfriends, figuring out how to stretch a dollar, Jack's leg...

The Story Behind My New Horse Jack

My new horse Jack... (and Margo wearing western tack for a friend who rode her)

I got Jack when my friend Darcie asked if I might want a free TB. We went to look at him Saturday night and brought him home to Shiloh on Sunday.

He is 16.3, 3 1/2 year old gelding from the Mr. Prospector line. He raced, he had 5 starts but didn't win place or show in any. A guy bought him off the track in AZ and wanted to use him as an out riding horse at chuck wagon races. This was not a good fit for him, then he injured his leg.

He came to me underweight, with a capped elbow and some nasty proud flesh on his left hind cannon bone. He has already put weight on and his leg is healing nicely. I have also drained his elbow about 50% before it closed up again.

He is the sweetest boy ever. Darcie had him earlier this year and put 60 days on him, so she knows him and liked him and said she would help me get him going again. I can wait to get on him! I am trying to let his leg heal up a bit and let him gain a little more weight first.

He lives in the giant stud stall at Shiloh and goes out in a paddock during the day. He eats a lot! Love him!

Margo and Jack are due to be wormed... Ivermectin/Praziquantel combination (Equimax) this month.

I need to go buy some more alfalfa cubes for Mr. Jack ,who has put on weight already! Yay! Also his leg is looking really good too. And even though I go to the barn EVERYDAY, no one in my family has ever come out to see my new barn or meet Jack... awww pout pout (Well, I guess Dad has come out to see the new barn, by default, as his truck was there... he did say hi to Margo though... :) thanks Dad)

Also, I am wanting to shop! (Besides boring stuff, like new work clothes, ugh..)I want: a new pair of field boots for me, a new hunt coat to fox hunt in this fall, a new or used snaffle bridle for Jack.

Well, this is Big O. I am going to show him AND Margo at the next SMHJA show at Shadowbrook. I am sooo excited! My Dad and I are taking my one horse slant trailer to a welding shop this week to have it turned back into a two horse straight load, so I can haul them both :) Yay!
Isn't he lovely? I am going to show him in adult x bar hunters and Margo will be showing in the training hunter division.

Margo did SO good at this show! She had lots of impulsion and really flew around my courses! I am so proud of her! I got a 3rd, 4th adn 5th in my classes there, out of 6 horses :)

I really like how the bases are on this drawing...

Here are some more examples... I want mine to be 4' long, 2' OR 2'3" tall, 6" wide... I don't know why these all have a middle support (upright), I think that can be eliminated to simplify the design. I do want bases though, to make them sturdier for cross county...

Here is another type of jump I want to build, as I have all that wood at the barn I can use... a "ramp" jump, or a coop (two sided ramp...) :)

Well, all I do now is work M-F during the day, then go to the barn, then come home and sleep, rinse, repeat.

Jack has been keeping me super busy! His leg is looking SO much better and he seems pleased with his life :) He is already gaining weight and I can't wait to start riding him!

Margo is doing great, we are showing Saturday, yea! We got our first blue ribbon together last weekend at a Sho-Me show in Nixa, thanks to Tara, I'm glad I went!

I have been riding some of Scott's horses: Raleigh, a huge grey Hanoverian hunt horse, who is on and off sore; and last night I rode "Big O" an imported Argentinan TB polo pony who is for sale. I love him! He went SO good! I made $20 clipping him, giving him a bath and riding him for 30 min! Woohoo! A buyer is coming to see him today.

I'm mucking Darcie (the reining trainer) stalls this week, as she is in Tulsa at the Ariat Reining Classic. Fingers crossed that she does well there! In exchange for chores, she is going to help me with Margo and Jack, woohoo!

I'm really excited about this fall, hoping to get to go fox hunting with Scott and Amanda a bunch. I need a new hunt coat and I really want a pair of field boots. Maybe for part of my birthday present... :) lol

Not much to post today...

Had fun at the lake and river over the weekend.

Margo is out of fly spray and I am broke until Friday :( Going out to see her tonight, I have been trying to clear up some fungus on her hind legs, hope that looks better. My friend's horse out there has some sort of fungus all over her muzzle, it looks BAD, I'm praying Margo doesnt get it, as they share the same pasture. ugh.

Kittens in need of homes!

Mateo rescued these kittens (and their mom) at one week old. The momma cat had these kittens in the bushes at Domino's in Nixa. Mateo was caring for them, then landscaping guys came and trimmed the bushes and momma moved the kittens to one of those little islands with shrubs in the parking lot. Mateo moved the kittens back, then momma moved them out to the island again. Mateo couldn't leave them there, so he brought them home. Momma and five kittens (four boys, one girl) =P

Kittens will be ready for new homes in the next week or two. They all use the litter box, eat hard food and drink water from a dish.

Little Girl kitten - Super playful, rowdy, sweet, likes to explore, brave! Boy (grey tabby) in front - he is really cute and likes attention and is sweet. Also very playful. Boy kitten (butterscotch and white patches) behind- one of two boys with these markings. He is a little lover, also very playful. Mateo, holding the ornery little girl. My favorite kitten on Mateo's leg here, boy kitten (solid orange) He is chubby and lazy and so sweet! I love him!

This is the other Butterscotch and white boy. He is lighter orange than his brother. Also very cute and sweet (they all are...)

Hunter Derby!

Newish obsession with the Hunter Derby class! The USHJA International Hunter Derby course included cantering out of the ring and jumping two fences in the schooling area! Neat!
Paint derby horse! (Probably not an APHA, but still cool!)
They have a fence they have to trot too! Cool!

Pretty girl, got a bath and braided... button braids in her mane by me and tail braid courtesy of Melinda (thanks!)
Of course, she pooped during our hack class and got it on her clean legs (grr!) But, she didn't stop to poop, so score there! haha

We got a third that I am proud of in our hack, Margo caught the wrong lead to the right, but I brought her down to a trot and she picked up the correct lead right away, that was good. We had a break down of communication in our Eq Over Fences class, but did way better in the jumpers, (even though I got disqualified for going off course by going over one jump in the wrong direction) But all in all I am proud of my girl. Love her!
And A BIG THANKS to Tara, who acted as my photographer and puts up with me as her friend. You're the best Tara!!!
